Cloud VPS "commonsarchive" project Stretch deprecation

Description

The end of life of Debian Stretch is approaching in 2022 and we need to move to Debian Bullseye (or Buster) before that date.

All instances in the commonsarchive project need to upgrade as soon as possible. Instances not upgraded by 2022-05-01 may be subject to deletion unless prior arrangements for an extended deadline has been approved by the Cloud VPS administration team.

  • commonsarchive-prod: I'm not interested in maintaining this anymore, but to keep files archived I'll take a disk image for now.

it would be a big mistake shutdown, it is a repository of RAW images of Featured Pictures in commons. Many RAW images would be lost or no possibility of being accessed from Wikimedia Commons.

it would be a big mistake shutdown, it is a repository of RAW images of Featured Pictures in commons. Many RAW images would be lost or no possibility of being accessed from Wikimedia Commons.

Someone can do the upgrade if they want. I no longer have the time or interest to. Files have been backed up to archive.org so no uploaded files are lost forever.
