Feature summary: A portlet link for user to quickly create short URL.
Use case(s):
Currently short URLs are generated via Special page. It would be more convenient is a direct portlet link is added to '#p-tb' for user to create those URLs.
We have a site-wide script on Chinese Wikipedia, and it is even better if this feature is part of the code.
Benefits:
Indeed more convenient for users.
This is already available in the extension. It's purposely disabled on Wikimedia wikis
Is there a link for the "disable"? It make sense to me if some sites willing to enable this.
It's not enabled because we don't have time to make it pass its design issues. See T289999: Implement design review of toolbox link for url shortener Once that's fixed, I'm more than happy to enable it in most wikis :) I even tried to fix that but I don't have time/mental energy to work with ooui.
Please let's follow T267921: Roll out the Toolbox link for URL Shortener in Wikimedia sites for enabling the feature on Wikimedia prod wikis since it already exists.
