Protected Main Page in Indonesian Wikibooks get vandalized twice by spammer
Closed, InvalidPublicBUG REPORT

Description

List of steps to reproduce (step by step, including full links if applicable):

  • Go to Indonesian Wikibooks and check the edit history, https://id.wikibooks.org/w/index.php?title=Halaman_Utama&action=history
  • In 4 Mei 2022 02.31‎ BrockArmour1814 and in 22 September 2021 03.29‎ JewellTanaka479 vandalized the home page, although it has been semi-protected for autoconfirmed users only
  • Both vandals only has that one edit, so they're not autoconfirmed users.

What happens?:
A user asked me to revert this vandalism, because they couldn't revert it themselves, since it was protected page. I felt that was weird that the vandals managed to breach to protection, and vandalized the main page.

What should have happened instead?:
When a page is protected or semi-protected, especially the main page, the vandals and spammers shouldn't be able to edit and vandalized it.

Software version (if not a Wikimedia wiki), browser information, screenshots, other information, etc.:

They are both autoconfirmed, the default autoconfirmed age is 4 days, and the default autoconfirmed edit count is 0. They were both 4 days old and autoconfirmed before performing those edits.

Shouldn't it be 10 edits, like in Wikipedia?

Depends on the site settings. https://noc.wikimedia.org/conf/InitialiseSettings.php.txt lists as default for wgAutoConfirmAge 'default' => 4 * 3600 * 24 and 'wgAutoConfirmCount' 'default' => 0. Some wikis may not use the default settings, like enwiki.

And if not, how can we change it to 10 edits?
