Description

Google Chrome beta 102.0.5005.40 on Android

Workaround

Log in on the home page (https://isa.toolforge.org/) at least once. This should create a user and logging in later should work.

Event Timeline

Same issue reported by a second person.
But I tried again, as well as Afek and Isla, and it worked.

I see the little blue loading icon on the photo stock though. Could it be the beginning of an answer ?

I had a look in the logs and this seems to be caused by users not being created (T304090).

I can't get this workaround to work for me. Interestingly, I noticed after logging in, if I navigate to campaigns and then back to the home page, the header goes back to showing "login" instead of my username. (But I am not really logged out, since it comes back just by going back to a campaign.) When I log in, I get the "Welcome" bar, and the header shows my name. I also see a cookie is set. Something is definitely wrong with the account, though. I tried going to https://isa.toolforge.org/user-settings and get the 500 error.

same as Dominic. and I also tried starting from scratch in incognito session. but with the same commons account I was using before.

I have asked a few people to add data to this campaign. All those who tried... succeeded.
BUT, one person actually made successfully 3 edits, which are indeed integrated to Wikimedia Commons. See here : https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Nehaoua

However, his edits do not appear in the campaign summary. https://isa.toolforge.org/campaigns/204

I have no idea if this might be related to this bug, or another bug. Just mentioning the feedback from a debugger

I found a bug that prevented new users from being added, that was introduced in T252232. I created a patch for it and test deployed it (it's small and harmless). This should allow you to use the workaround that I mentioned. Let me know if it still doesn't work.

This is because edits can be made to Commons even if there is no user in ISA's database, so the root cause is the same as the other issues here.

doesn't work.

lmk if you need more deets e.g. I could snoop on the Ajax traffic and look at the JS console.

I forgot to restart the server after I deployed🙄 It should hopefully work now.

Still doesnt work.

Did you try the workaround above? I had a look in the logs and it looks like there have been contributions by new users.

Thanks. Now it's working.
