Vector-2022/German Wikivoyage: Table of contents not in the sidebar
Closed, DuplicatePublicBUG REPORT

Description

List of steps to reproduce (step by step, including full links if applicable):

  • Open any content page like Berlin
  • Later, add ?tableofcontents=1 to the url

What happens?:

  • Against all other Wikivoyages, in the German Wikivoyage the table of contents (toc) is presented in the text block above the second section (in the classical manner).
  • After adding te query "tableofcontents=1" to the url, the toc is moved to the sidebar.

What should have happened instead?:

  • The toc should be presented in the sidebar without adding the query.

Software version (if not a Wikimedia wiki), browser information, screenshots, other information, etc.:

  • Firefox 100.0, Google Chrome 101.0

Event Timeline

@RolandUnger we haven't enabled the feature on Wikivoyage yet as there are still open questions about what to do with the table of contents in banners on Wikivoyage products.

I think this is working as expected until the deployment happens..?

@Jdlrobson: German Wikivoyage uses classical table of contents, not table of contents in the banner. That's why there are no open questions in this case. But I am wondering that this feature of the sidebar toc is working on all Wikivoyages but not at the German Wikivoyage.

But I am wondering that this feature of the sidebar toc is working on all Wikivoyages but not at the German Wikivoyage.

This is because German Wikivoyage has Vector 2022 as the default skin for anonymous users and the others are logged in only. We haven't enabled the new table of contents for any project where it would be shown to anonymous users yet. That should be changing this week. Hope that makes sense?

In principle, it makes sense. But it makes no sense if that change was announced a long time ago (as it was done by SGrabarczuk on April 24, 2022) but was not yet realized.
