Hi Wikians,

I use an iPhone 11 running iOS 16.2. Over the past two months the Wikipedia app has started to open much more slowly than ever before. It now can take up to 15 seconds to fully load and become usable. The slowdown started when I was still running iOS 15, so doesn’t seem to be related to the update to iOS 16. Once the app is open and in use it seems to work quite well.

All my other apps run fine. I keep my phone pretty clean, clear my cookies and caches regularly, update my system software and apps.

Any suggestions you have that might help solve this problem would be much appreciated.

I updated my ios as per usual. The Wikipedia app still takes ages to load up before you make a search. Once loaded, a search is as quick as it used to be.

I sent an email to one of those users with some follow-up questions - I'll update once I have more information.

I’ve read several comments about the same recent performance issue with the wiki app.
I’m running ios 16.3.1 Wikipedia App 7.2, iPhone xR

The app takes around 10 seconds to start and really lags while using.

I’ve been noticing every time I opened the app it takes a while to actually open, I have the app up to date, my version is the following 7.2.0 (2061) and my iOS is 16.4.1

@ARamadan-WMF I think these issues may be fixed (or at least greatly improved) with 7.2.2. I can close this ticket, but would you like to check with the users who complained here first before I do that?
