Invite to edit the paragraph after completing their sentences with few edits
Open, MediumPublic

Description

Section Translation supports a process where users provide a translation for each sentence. Previous research showed the needs to (a) emphasize the need to edit the translations and (b) surface the possibility of editing the whole paragraph (since some translations require to rearrange the contents from different sentences).

This task proposes to create a card to be shown when the user completes the translation of all the sentences of a paragraph before moving to the next element. The messaging will be provided in two flavours depending on how much the sentences in the paragraph have been edited:

  • when edited enough, celebrate and surface the option to edit the whole paragraph
  • when not edited enough warn the user that more edits are needed.
    • Providing option to mark issues as resolved (to communicate that machine translation may have been very good, and incorporate the feedback for the limit system consideration, T347272)

Considerations:

  • We want to show tis only for paragraphs containing more than one sentence. That is, section titles, or single lines of text should not get the paragraph end card, since that would add no additional value (would be just a repetition of the sentence card).
  • We may want to explore visual aspects to celebrate the achievement and the ways to skip (e.g., shows for a few seconds, option to don't show again...). So that this pause feels refreshing rather than one more step.
