Growthexperiments-homepage-mentorship-questionreview-header-away should provide a link to the replacement mentor
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Situation:
Mentor can set themselves as away for a short period of time. In this case, mentees are informed of the availability of a different mentor who will reply to their questions.

Problem
Even if the username of the replacement mentor is given, newcomers can't easily know who they are as no link is given to visit their user page.

Hello @Trizek-WMF,

as far as I can see,, a link to the mentor's talk page is available in both the backup message and regular message, see screenshots (highlights are mine):

Do you think we should add a link to the mentor's user page as well? If so, I believe it should be added to both messages.

@Urbanecm_WMF, on your screenshot, the link should be on "Mentoress". This way, a newcomer mentored by "Mentor" would know more about "Mentoress".

Would it be possible to change the sentence you highlight in the case of the mentor being away? The question won't be asked at the mentor's talk page, but at the replacement mentor's talk page, which should be explained.

I found this old mockup where a link to the replacement mentor was considered. :)

Thanks for the reply Trizek! Let's make it look like in the old mock up:

Let me know if you want me to make any changes.

Change 809280 had a related patch set uploaded (by Urbanecm; author: Urbanecm):

Checked in production wmf.18. "Ask your mentor dialog" looks as in @Urbanecm_WMF comment above. The screenshots below are from testwiki wmf.18:

The link your mentor's talk page redirects to a new, temporarily-assigned mentor user talk page.
