Highlight IPs in the CheckUser results that are sensitive or internal IPs
Open, MediumPublicFeature

Requested on checkuser-l
Feature summary (what you would like to be able to do and where):
Using a MediaWiki page or another method, mark IPs that are considered sensitive and/or internal with a colour so that CUs are aware they are about to check a IP that may be sensitive (such as the US congress) or internal (such as a toolforge IP).

Use case(s) (list the steps that you performed to discover that problem, and describe the actual underlying problem which you want to solve. Do not describe only a solution):
CheckUsers when running checks using the "Get IP Addresses" subtype will see IPs. Sometimes these IPs are internal or sensitive IPs. For example, on enwiki the Accounts for Creation process uses OAuth to create accounts when a account creator approves the request. This uses the toolforge IP assigned to this tool. Because the creation is logged by the CU extension this means the request IP, which is the Toolforge IP, is stored and therefore it seems there may be many hundreds of users on that one IP.

Benefits (why should this be implemented?):

  • This would give CUs an indication when a IP is sensitive or internal, which may need to be treated differently.
