Section translation Desktop editor: Adjust the title to show article and section names
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

The current desktop editor in Content Translation shows the article title for the source contents and the translation. When the desktop editor supports translating a section (T234323), this requires some adjustments:

  • Show the section title as the main document title. This will be editable in the translation.
  • Include a non-editable label above the section title with the article name.

We may want to make sure this only applies when expanding an article with a new section. Translations of a new article should keep the usual representation of the article title as before.

To access the Section translation mode(single section translation instead of whole article), you have to use sourcesection in URL. An example:

Currently there is no UI to select the section. Mannually providing sourcesection argument in the URL is the only way.

@santhosh when I open both links I see the below in the attached. Like blank pages, is that expected?

It says your user account has not enabled CX beta feature in ca.wikipedia.org. By clicking on "Proveu-la ara!"(Engllish: "Try it now") , you can enable CX in that wiki. As you may already know, CX is a beta feature in some wikis and require manually enabling by going to Special:Preferences

@santhosh thanks for the clarification. I am able to see the changes in the URL ( with sourcesection )

test status: QA PASS
