Acceptance Criteria:

If a username has been changed, how can we only show the result for the new name rather than the old name in searching the participant list?

Renames are already supported and have always been, TTBOMK. See an example in https://meta.wikimedia.beta.wmflabs.org/w/index.php?title=Special:EventDetails/226&tab=ParticipantsPanel, where I registered with the account "Daimona test rename", then renamed it to "Daimona test 2". The new name is showing in the list and can be searched.
