Steps to reproduce:

What happens?
Search for haslabel:mul does not show any results.

What should have happened instead?
Search for haslabel:mul should show results (just like using any other language code, e.g. haslabel:en) - since we do have items with mul labels on testwikidata, e.g. John Doe II.

Acceptance criteria:

  • We understand the problem that leads to this issue.
  • The problem is solved (or if solving the problem is out of scope then please create a follow-up task so we can discuss it).

It looks like Wikidata, where we now enabled mul (T330281), is having the same problem – there’s at least one item with a mul label at the moment, the sandbox (though it might get clear later), and its action=cirrusDump also includes the mul label, but searching for haslabel:mul shows no results. Do you still know what the problem was two years ago, and if it might be the same issue here or something else? (Edit: now also tracked at T371352)
