Some articles allow the text to scroll horizontally even though it is resized to the screen width
Closed, ResolvedPublicBUG REPORT

Description

How many times were you able to reproduce it?

Every time.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Go to Joanne Woodward.
  2. Try horizontally scrolling the lede image. Note that it does not scroll, as it has been resized to fit the screen.
  3. Try horizontally scrolling the lede text, just below the image. Note that it scrolls to the right to display a large blank area, almost making the actual text disappear off the left.

This does not occur on every article. I cannot find a pattern - I thought it might have to do with lede images, infoboxes, or trailing templates, but I can find counterexamples to any simple case. For instance, the problem does not occur in List of Planetes episodes, which has an image that is being "promoted" to the lede by the client, but there is no infobox. However, PDP-11 architecture causes scrolling even though it lacks an infobox or any images at all, while PDP-6 does not have this problem even though it has both. It's somewhat baffling.

How do I add a screenshot? It's not remotely obvious...

Report from a user on Znuny:

When reading an article, you can scroll horizontally, revealing empty space on the right of the page. This is a glitch and it’s quite annoying because it’s easy to do accidentally and it serves no purpose. It happens on the iPhone 6 and 6s. Please fix it.
