Changing the ns2/ns3 robot policy on itwiki
Open, Needs TriagePublic

Description

Hi,

as per local discussion, we need some changes to the robot policy on itwiki.

  • 1) In wgNamespaceRobotPolicies namespace 3 (user talk) should be "noindex, follow" (as is ns2 already);
  • 2) Both "user" and "user talk" namespace should be added to wmgExemptFromUserRobotsControlExtra;
  • 3) The magic word "INDEX" should be translated as "INDICIZZARE" (currently it's "INDICE") and the magic word "NOINDEX" as "NONINDICIZZARE".

Thanks

[mediawiki/core@master] Update Italian translation of (no)index magic words

There's still some usage of the old translated version, so I keep it instead of replace it.

Several users write "(NO)INDICE" thinking perhaps that this involves the insertion/removal of the table of contents (in Italian it's called "indice"). Our goal is precisely to not have the "INDICE" and "NOINDICE" directives which can be confused, as mentioned, with the table of contents.

Btw, if that's an issue, I'll fix these directives, so they can be changed without problems!

EDIT: I fixed all the directives. Now "INDICE" and "NOINDICE" are present only in ns2 and ns3 in which, being these ns part of the ExemptFromUserRobotsControlExtra, no longer have value. Thanks :)

Just a reminder: don't forget to modify this gadget once the patch to mediawiki/core got merged. I suggest to perform a throughout replace including ns2 and ns3, as if such translation of this magic word is removed, the __NOINDICE__ or something will display on their page, which seems not pretty good.

Yep it will be done, even as regards the existing directives, I was going to do it anyway after the task was closed ;)
