Sortable tables aren't sortable on mobile web talk pages
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

In T233340 we enabled sortability for sortable tables on mobile web. This seemed to work as expected, but it seems that it doesn't work on talk pages. See, for example, https://meta.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Wikimedia_Foundation_elections/2022#Interim_(very_unofficial)_count. The sortable buttons are present, and tapping the cells displays an interaction, but the column sort is not applied. The same table functions as expected on desktop.

Great spot, @Samwalton9.

It looks like the issue of tables that appear on talk pages not being sortable is confined to the MobileFrontend talk page overlay. [i]

And seeing as how in the process of rolling out the set of mobile talk page improvements we'll be deprecating the MobileFrontend talk page overlay, I think this issue will resolve itself.

i. When I:

  • Tap the Read as wiki page link that appears at the bottom of Talk:Wikimedia_Foundation_elections/2022
  • Navigate to == Interim (very unofficial) count ==
  • ✅ Tap the headers in the table within the == Interim (very unofficial) count == section, the table sorts as expected

Indeed this work correctly in the new interface. You can try it out here: https://meta.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/Talk:Wikimedia_Foundation_elections/2022?dtenable=1#Interim_(very_unofficial)_count

I think we can close this, like we did with other issues about the current mobile interface for talk pages (T278590).
