Update policy notification when registering
Closed, ResolvedPublic1 Estimated Story Points

Description

As a campaign organizer, I want participants who take part in Wikimedia events to agree to the terms of use, privacy policy, Universal Code of Conduct, and Friendly Spaces policy, so that I can make it more likely that the events are run smoothly and civilly.

Background: This is a follow-up to T309333. While we have already created a policy notification, we are updating the notification to provide more details, after consulting with various teams.

Acceptance Criteria:

  • When a user is registering for an event with the registration solution, and if they are on a Wikimedia project, they should see the following policy notification: "By registering, you agree to the Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, Universal Code of Conduct, and any local Friendly Space Policy provided by the event organizers.”

@MHorsey-WMF The message in the AC has an Oxford comma (controversial, I know!) after Conduct, and also the AC uses the organizer(s) instead of organizers.

AC:
By registering, you agree to the Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, Universal Code of Conduct, and any local Friendly Space Policy provided by the event organizer(s).

From an event in the current build:
By registering, you agree to the Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, Universal Code of Conduct and any local Friendly Space Policy provided by the event organizers.

@vaughnwalters and @MHorsey-WMF Thanks for catching this! After getting clearance from internal teams, we are switching from "organizers(s)" to "organizers" for greater readability and clarity. I will update the AC. As for the Oxford comma, that was my choice, but let me know if you all disagree/have thoughts :)

I personally like Oxford commas, but don't feel strongly about it. And yes, I just realized I didn't write about "(s) plurals" here; for reference, here's the rationale: T318828#8270671.

Okay yeah, that makes sense for keeping it as organizers. And looks like WMF says yes to the Oxford comma as well!

Looks good (see screenshot example below), so I'm marking this as Done.
