Okay, let's first discuss the head icon to the upper right. Well it turns out all one has to do is just increment the font size a tiny bit, and then it disappears.

But now, we crank it all the way down to the tiniest font but for some reason in the left menu the logout choice doesn't show up, at least for me.

It turns out the above, combined with having chosen so-called Advanced Mode, pictured here with the blue slider slid to the right, conspired to lock me out of logging out.

So Advanced Mode, even if there's plenty of room still left in the left menu, will wipe out the logout button. Sounds to me like a security issue if you can't log out. Let's say you have to leave your phone at Benny's Phone Repair on the wrong side of town...

In the Settings of the unmentioned browser? In the Settings of the unmentioned operating system? In the Settings of the Wikimedia account?
Cannot reproduce so far with Chrome 105 on an Android 10 system.

Sorry. Anyway it was just your average Samsung cell phone, using your average Chrome browser, but with the fonts size just a little bit increased, as would be common for older users.
So that's how the head disappeared from the right. Okay that is understandable.
As far as why it disappeared from the left, that's due to one day in the past turning on Advanced Mode, which it turns out absconded with the logout item in the left menu! So it seems reasonable and safer for there always to be a logout menu item no matter what! Don't you think? So I suppose this bug might be retitled to "Don't have Advanced Mode get rid of the logout button, no matter what."
