Thank You Pages: custom account creation pages for sv, it, ja, fr, nl
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

Description
Thank you pages for: sv, it, ja, fr, nl + en version for each wiki

Objective:

As part of WMF's work around the Newcomer Experience Pilot, we have this objective: Account creation: internet users in our target markets learn that they can contribute to Wikipedia, are prompted to begin contributing and to create an account to have access to the newcomer experience.

Background:
Last year, the Newcomer Experience Pilot project tested several different ways to increase account creation and activation.
The Thank you page experiment was only conducted in a few regions / languages, but showed promise:
~29,000 Registrations, ~1,300 Constructive Activations (defined as editing within 24 hours of registration and that edit not being reverted within 48 hours).

This task is for making the custom account creation pages that will be used for upcoming fundraising campaigns.

NOTE: There has been some discussion about setting this up in a similar way as Growth Community Configuration, so non-engineers can easily set these up. Let's approach this task in an agile / iterative way and set up the backend so it's easier to set up these custom account creation pages. Then if it is decided that we want to continue to scale this work, then eventually we can set up the frontend so communities and non-devs can help set up these custom account creation pages.

Campaign summary: The fundraising team maintains the “Thank you page”, which all donors from emails and banners see after completing their donation. We’re hoping to add a permanent call to action for “learn to edit Wikipedia” that goes to the Newcomer features on this page in these countries.
Request Description: Create landing pages for donors clicking on the CTA from the thank you page.

kostajh subscribed.

@KStoller-WMF does this belong in the current sprint? When are we intending to do this work?

@kostajh No, it's not ready for development yet, so "upcoming work" is perfect. (And sorry, I meant to move it there myself!)

hi @KStoller-WMF , the final translations - Dutch - are finished!

@HNordeenWMF - excellent! We'll get this prioritized soon.

I can't find this task on Asana. When will it happen?

@Trizek-WMF the overall project is in Asana under "Newcomer Experience Project" : https://app.asana.com/0/1200468617677421/list
There isn't a hard deadline, but my understanding is the Fundraising team isn't going to work on the next stage until this task is complete.

The landing page seems to be identical to the one from T305659: Account creation: Thank You Page landing pages (although that did not have translations for these languages, except for fr).

Thank you @KStoller-WMF. Communication with communities is up to the Fundraising team, or do we have shared responsibilities?

Communication with communities is up to the Fundraising team, or do we have shared responsibilities?

@Trizek-WMF Good question, I assumed that our normal level of communication (posting experiment results, Growth weekly updates, Growth team newsletters, tech news, etc.) was probably enough, but do you think additional communication is needed?
@HNordeenWMF is there any other communication about this effort happening on the fundraising side?

@kostajh & @Tgr - a question about repurposing previous pages came up in our meeting today. My understanding is that we are continuing to show the Thank you page invitation and special account creation page to the markets we experimented with previously [ 1]. So I don't think we should make changes to the existing account creation pages. Does that answer the question, or did I misunderstand the concern?
