Way to reply with a bullet instead of an indent
Closed, DuplicatePublicBUG REPORT

Description

Steps to replicate the issue (include links if applicable):

 • Post a paragraph on a talk page
 • Use DiscussionTools to reply to it, typing something like * Delete. Fails WP:GNG. ~~~~

What happens?:

 • The code generated for that is :* Delete. Fails WP:GNG. ~~~~, with a colon.

What should have happened instead?:

 • The code generated for that should be * Delete. Fails WP:GNG. ~~~~, with no colon.
 • Or if this would conflict with desired behavior such as a bulleted list nested in one's reply, let's think about another way we could give the user this option, such as a check box they could tick.

Software version (skip for WMF-hosted wikis like Wikipedia):

Other information (browser name/version, screenshots, etc.):

 • Use case: it is common to want to do a bulleted reply 1) when !voting in various internal processes, and 2) when posting a reply at indent level 1 (the equivalent of one colon)

Considering this ticket seems to be requesting people be able to select the indentation syntax on a per-comment basis, I've marked this as a duplicate of T276510.

...thank you for listing out those tickets, @Tacsipacsi.

Considering this ticket seems to be requesting people be able to select the indentation syntax on a per-comment basis […]

The underlying problem seems to be (at least partly) T259865 (see the use case). Anyways, the main point is that whatever @Novem_Linguae wanted to have, it’s already tracked somewhere else.
