Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

User story

As a newcomer, I want the Impact module language to be concise and make sense, because I want to quickly understand the feature

As a translator, I want to be able to understand the context for each string that I translate, because that ensures that my translations make sense and fit the feature.

Acceptance Criteria:
  • Designer to review copy Praise module Copy
  • PM to review copy Praise module Copy, add/update QQQ & respond to any additional comments or feedback in the ""Comments"" column
  • Update any copy that has changed
  • Engineers Add/edit the TWN description field for TranslateWiki (Growth team)
  • Engineers Add the corresponding field name (Engineering)
  • Quality Assurance check that strings correspond to the Final copy text (QA)

Event Timeline

Hi @KStoller-WMF - the praise draft copy is also updated and ready for your review and updates, thanks!

@Urbanecm_WMF I added QQQ descriptions and finalized copy for Personalized praise.

I know that some designs are still in flight, so it's possible some strings are missing. Just let me know if I'm missing anything. I'm also totally willing to discuss any of these strings / decisions further, so feel free to surface any concerns you have or improvements you want to suggest. Thanks!

I'll reflect the changes from the spreadsheet in the feature.

Your default message
Subject Placeholder text in the subject field for a message. Text associated with the "Send praise" Mentor dashboard module settings.
Write a personalised message that can either be praise, feedback or encouragement to your mentee. Eg. Thank you for...Placeholder text in the message textarea for a message from mentor to mentee. Text associated with the "Send praise" Mentor dashboard module settings.
  • The two placeholder messages are not in place. Praise Module Copy has a comment that this message "Write a personalised message that can either be praise, feedback..." is not needed anymore. Is it also true for the Subject placeholder message?
  • Reverts are not present in metric nor in the Settings.
  • [minor] Under the Praise module, there is Setting module for setting a mentor's activity load. Since the Setting dialog for Praise is under the gear (setting) icon, it might be confusing for users to know which Setting to use.

Hi @Etonkovidova the last two messages that still need to be checked were out of date, I've updated the spreadsheet with the updated copy!

@Etonkovidova - thank you so much for the thorough review!

The two placeholder messages are not in place. Praise Module Copy has a comment that this message "Write a personalised message that can either be praise, feedback..." is not needed anymore. Is it also true for the Subject placeholder message?

@Urbanecm_WMF I know you mentioned this. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the thinking was that the placeholder text isn't really necessary since a default message should always show based on community defaults set in community configuration.

Reverts are not present in metric nor in the Settings.

Correct. We hope to add revert metrics as a follow-up task: T333036: Positive Reinforcement: Personalized praise design improvements for revert data

[minor] Under the Praise module, there is Setting module for setting a mentor's activity load. Since the Setting dialog for Praise is under the gear (setting) icon, it might be confusing for users to know which Setting to use.

I know this was discussed during the design phase when we were trying to decide if Personalize praise settings should be part of the main settings or connected to the module. I agree that it might be confusing for some users, but as this module is only shown to advanced editors, who will know where to ask for help, I think the current layout is likely OK. If we start to receive questions or feedback from Mentors about this, then we can reconsider.

Checked in testwiki wmf.9 - all text is in place.
