does this anyhow belong to: http://code.pediapress.com/wiki/ticket/759 (absolute positioned images fail)?

yes! they are the same bug :(

1.21wmf11 - verified that problem still exists.

also noticed that different images scale differently: larger images are shrunk with higher shrink-ratio than smaller ones (i.e., an image which appeared 1/8 the size of another, now looks more like 1/4 - definitely more than 1/8)

peace.

As already announced in Tech News, OfflineContentGenerator (OCG) will not be used anymore after October 1st, 2017 on Wikimedia sites. OCG will be replaced by Electron. You can read more on mediawiki.org.

The Offline Content Generator (OCG) software is dead. On Wikimedia servers, a PDF of a single web page is now created by Proton and Electron-PDFs instead of OCG.

The problem described in this bug report does not happen anymore with Proton and Electron-PDFs. So this task is resolved on Wikimedia servers by moving away from OCG. And this task is declined when it comes to the OCG software codebase itself.
