Should this be backported? I'm seeing 118,057+ errors over the last 7 days and the volume is high enough that it just triggered an alert (https://grafana.wikimedia.org/d/000000566/overview?tab=alert&viewPanel=16&orgId=1)

@Jdlrobson @SimoneThisDot Since there seems to have been a fix made that is included in 1.40.0-wmf.21, I'm going to remove this as a train blocker. Let me know if you object. A backport of the fix to wmf.20 is still welcome.

Checked

  • betalabs doesn't display the error
  • only pilot wikis on logstash (last 24 hours) show the error. The wikis are in group 2, so will check when the deployment (or backporting) will be for that group.

Re-checked in wmf.21 - only three errors in logstash last 24 hours.
