Considerations (Optional)
Redesigning a Wikimedia project icon would have to include community alignment on the problem, community liaisons and Comms dept to agree and follow along too. Note, this is currently only a design exploration task to clarify problem statement and sketch early ideas.

Goal
The goal is to simplify the current Wikinews icon to remove the "soundwaves" to be more like the favicon seen on Commons.

Once the icon spec sheet has been created, the Figma file should be included here.
SVG icon
Once the icon has been created, we will export it in SVG format and add it here.

Design
- The design of the new logo and icon is ready
- The new icon has been reviewed with help from the DST (and community if needed)
- The icon is recognizable on low DPI resolutions
- The icon has been exported as an optimized SVG and added to this task’s description
- The new icon has been included in our Icon System Figma file, and the library has been published
