Leveling up: collect Communities feedback about the proposed designs
Closed, DeclinedPublic

Description

The second step of the community feedback about Leveling up designs.

  1. We ask mentors for their feedback at wikis where mentorship exists.
    • We first target mentors for their opinion.
    • If they are ready to help (case of our supportive communities), then we would ask them for their help to contact newcomers (mostly helping with translations).
  2. Feedback is gathered on this task, for project enhancements

Engagement questions are listed in T328356.

Engagement results

Questions were asked to 3 different user profiles:

  • Dialogue 1: Easy tasks editors
  • Dialogue 2: non-Growth editors
  • Dialogue 3: mentors

Here are the main outcomes (listed by at least two users).

Dialogue 1: Easy tasks editors

The post-edit dialogue is perceived as an encouragement.

How difficult are these suggested edits is a recurring question. (Covered by T330543: Leveling up: Second design iteration of "Try a new task" dialog)

Dialogue 2: non-Growth editors

Overall, users who never made a Growth edit think these invites encourage them to do suggested edits. Notifications are also perceived as encouraging.

How difficult are these suggested edits is a recurring question as well.

Dialogue 3: mentors

Overall, mentors are positive about the idea.

Suggestions:

  • Having more encouraging post-editing dialogues.
  • Giving control of the number of edits or the number of days of tenure would be much appreciated.
  • Notifications should be sent both on wiki and by email.

Event Timeline

@KStoller-WMF, I summarized the outcomes of this conversation in the task description. I let you resolve the task if it is okay.

Okay, I actually got confused with T328356, which is already done.

Kirsten, as the schedule changed, should we reach at other communities?

As we've already completed two rounds of collecting feedback for this project, and we are now incredibly close to actual release, so I think further community feedback is no longer necessary. We'll soon hopefully start to get feedback (or at least data) from actual feature use.

Which reminds me, we should ensure this task gets prioritized eventually: T229869: Homepage: feedback module
