Whenever I translate pages (mostly on Meta) using the Translate extension, I encounter problems with the limitations of that simplified editor. While I can use all kinds of characters and wikitext, there is not toolbar assisting me in inserting these. I regularly need special characters (German quotation marks and en dashes, in particular), but always have to copy them from somewhere else (or use hard-to-remember keyboard shortcuts), which slows me down considerably.

Ideally, the Translate editor should use the same simplified toolbar as e.g. DiscussionTools. This would help everyone using the Translate extension, especially in non-English language communities (i.e. most users of that extension).
