Translate editing window jumping due to misplaced warning message
Closed, DuplicatePublicBUG REPORT

Description

Steps to replicate the issue:

  • Try translating any page marked for translation, e.g. on Meta-Wiki.
  • Start translating a random section and add opening brackets of any kind, e.g. [[.

What happens?:
The editing window is moved one line lower and a warning appears above the window (area tux-notices-block) stating that there are unbalanced brackets. If you balance the brackets in the editing window, the warning disappears and the window moves back up.

What should have happened instead?:
The editing window should not move around based on the visibility of the warning. While typing, you will constantly produce unbalanced brackets, which means the window might move around several times while writing. This causes visual disturbance, but also hinders an efficient workflow if you have to copy and paste parts of sentences. The warning should either appear below the editing window or in any case be confined to an area that will not alter the position of the editing window.
