The need for this ticket emerged in the 7 Feb. 2023 with the Growth Team by way of T327333.

Event Timeline

To start, Edit Check will support the full-page visual editor on desktop and mobile.

The Editing Team made this choice for two primary reasons:

  1. The initial reference check is intended for people who are new and relatively inexperienced who, on most projects, are likely to be using the visual editor by default
  2. We wanted to limit the scope of support in an effort to accelerate the pace at which we could make an initial check available.

With the above said, we do see a future where Edit Check is available in all editing interfaces so that we can support checks like: "make people aware when they are at risk of breaking en.wiki's three-revert rule."
