@spatton @TSkaff hi! Could one of you update me on this one, since Japan email started this week, are we delaying making Variant 1 the default so they can do more testing in Email?

@HNordeenWMF We are sending Japan email donors to the existing control payments form--Sam wants to test more V1 when it's time for banners (get more input on V1) and, if V2 is ready during banners, test that one then too. I think email content is just controls, but Sam let us know if I got anything wrong here ...

Can we delete the V2 variant when we do this, or will they still be testing that one?

@AKanji-WMF, @Ejegg : yes, I would still like to test V2; is it fully functional? My last understanding was that it would take extra technical work to complete, but maybe I missed that it's already done.

We have just under 2 weeks left in the Japan banner fundraising campaign and I wouldn't call this our highest testing priority in the short-term. But overall, the V2 form does introduce some elements that have been widely encouraged among our local reviewers, so I think we shouldn't abandon the work if possible.

@spatton variant 2 makes the new fields visible to the donor, but we don't save them to Civi. I think the idea was it would give us better-quality data in the fields that ARE saved to civi by making it explicit which name format we wanted.

Flagging next Japan campaigns tentatively slated for Q3 (Jan/Feb).

From looking at the Japanese payments wiki, it doesn't appear that Variant 1A was ever adopted to control as requested here. @spatton I see you still have interest in V2, but you were onboard with adoption of 1A in March 2023? (See our conversation here), and I think it's a good first step before the campaign and we can discuss further testing.
