It is possible for mentors to set themselves as away. In this case, their mentees' questions are ported to other mentors' talk pages. These replacement mentors are not informed of the relationship between the mentor and the mentee: they might think it is a new question from a newcomer, while it might be a follow-up question from a topic developed with the initial mentor.

The idea would be to add a line to the message, maybe below the header, in smaller font size: $Mentee's mentor is $Mentor, who is away until $date. You can [[special:ChalimMentee|claim this mentee if you want]]..
