Grant Access to analytics-privatedata-users for trizek
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

  • The username of your existing account on wikitech.wikimedia.org: trizek
  • Do you currently have shell access (Yes/No)? No
  • Purpose (Specify which service you need to get access to, e.g. Icinga, Grafana, Superset etc): access Superset charts and dashboards, specifically those built for the Growth team, that require private data access.
  • The specific LDAP group that you want to be added to (optional): analytics-privatedata-users

Trizek got added to the wmf group in T282772. I'm filing this request so he also has access to Superset charts and dashboards that the Growth team has that require additional access (e.g. our leading indicator dashboards T323788 & T328055).

SRE Clinic Duty Confirmation Checklist for Access Requests

This checklist should be used on all access requests to ensure that all steps are covered, including expansion to existing access. Please double check the step has been completed before checking it off.

This section is to be confirmed and completed by a member of the SRE team.

  • - User has signed the L3 Acknowledgement of Wikimedia Server Access Responsibilities Document. [not required, no shell access]
  • - User has a valid NDA on file with WMF legal. (All WMF Staff/Contractor hiring are covered by NDA. Other users can be validated via the NDA tracking sheet)
  • - User has provided the following: wikitech username, email address, and full reasoning for access (including what commands and/or tasks they expect to perform)
  • - User has provided a public SSH key. This ssh key pair should only be used for WMF cluster access, and not shared with any other service (this includes not sharing with WMCS access, no shared keys.)
  • - access request (or expansion) has sign off of WMF sponsor/manager (sponsor for volunteers, manager for wmf staff)
  • - access request (or expansion) has sign off of group approver indicated by the approval field in data.yam

Event Timeline

Hi @Trizek-WMF: This requires approval from your manager. Thank you!

From Analytics, adding @Ottomata @odimitrijevic for approval.

HI @nettrom_WMF, I think we need some more info. Is trizek a WMF staff or contractor? Usually, we need an official sponsor contact and a MOU date at which the access should expire.

Oh, wmf group already hm, and I see a bevellin@wikimedia.org email associated.

If so, then approved!

Note to SRE clinic duty: this is ssh-less posix group membership of analytics-privatedata-users.

@Ottomata : as you've discovered, @Trizek-WMF is already assigned to the wmf group and is WMF staff (and also subscribed to this task).

Just checking: is it approved or still pending my manager's approval?

Thank you both!

Thank you both!

Hi @Trizek-WMF: We have @Ottomata's approval from Analytics but still needs your manager's approval. Thank you.

@Elitre, can you approve this request? It would allow me to access Superset charts and dashboards, specifically those built for the Growth team, that require private data access.

This access would simplify my work as I could check on the data for team decisions and for community questions on global trends (no details given to them, of course).

Thank you!
