Description

I recently uploaded a new version of File:Free-object-universal-property.svg. Both on commons and Free object - Wikipedia, the image "preview" is out of date. Not only is it out of date, but it seems to have reverted to an even older version of the file! The version from 18:32, 2 April 2023 is displayed, when the latest (from 17:25, 7 April 2023) should be.

Bypassing the cache (Ctrl-F5) doesn't help. I've checked the web page on another device and the image is out of date there, as well. Is this a defect?

Possibly a duplicate of T333042: Specific PNG thumbnail of SVG file is outdated / stuck (European caching cluster)? It is not EU cache specific in this case as I can see the stale https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/22/Free-object-universal-property.svg/319px-Free-object-universal-property.svg.png thumbnail served from x-cache: cp1088 hit, cp1090 hit/2 which are edge host in the eqiad data center.

Calling for a new size like https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/2/22/Free-object-universal-property.svg/320px-Free-object-universal-property.svg.png did generate the expected image based on the most recent SVG source. This pretty certainly means the cache state is some variation on T333042: Specific PNG thumbnail of SVG file is outdated / stuck (European caching cluster) or T330942: Latest image thumbnails aren't replaced correctly after image reupload.

I have cleared out the old thumbnails of this image (so as the CDN expires the ones its cached they should get regenerated).
