Move cloudcephosd1021 to cloudsw1-c8-eqiad
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

cloudsw2-c8-eqiad has been brought up as a stopgap solution as cloudsw1-c8 was becoming full due to servers using two uplinks.

Thanks to T319184: Move WMCS servers to 1 single NIC cloudsw1-c8-eqiad now have 8 free switch ports, 3 more once the last 3 cloudvirt servers will be migrated to 1 NIC then 2 more once T330479: Move WMCS servers out of eqiad row B is done. Enough for the rack's capacity.

The last server on cloudsw2-c8-eqiad is cloudcephosd1021 (using 2 switch ports).
Moving it to cloudsw1-c8 will allow us to decom cloudsw2-c8 and thus cleanup the configuration, help to keep a stable infra, free up (U & cabling) space in the rack.

As it's the same vlan on both switches there is no re-numbering needed, the process is straightforward (and they don't need to move physically):

  1. Configure the new switch ports
  2. Move the cables
  3. Un-configure the old switch ports
  4. Update the cables in Netbox

They can also be done one at a time if needed.

ayounsi updated the task description. (Show Details)

If as I understand the ips don't change, this is fairly painless (unless jumbos strike again xd), all that's needed is to unlpug and plug again, it could be done without stopping the server (though it's not required, it can be stopped).

This can be done at any time, just ping me before doing it to keep an eye, but should have no bigger impact than a warning alert showing up on alertmanager.

Worked with dcaro and Ayounsi relocated connections to cloudsw1
