Project Name: media-streaming
Wikitech Usernames of requestors: bvibber / brion / Brion VIBBER
Purpose: a couple years ago I had a test instance for TimedMediaHandler media format transcoding & compatibility updates at media-streaming.wmflabs.org with test media files and a patched test wiki, which got shut down a couple years ago because I didn't respond to one of those "we'll delete your project if you don't respond" emails. I'd like to set that back up to help demo & get active participatory testing in the latest dev work on this extension.
Brief description: Apache web server, MediaWiki with latest in-dev patches to TimedMediaHandler to demonstrate new updates to the extension's audio/video file handling. Nothing that's not in Debian. Needs a few gigs of disk space... a large number of CPU cores is beneficial for running video compression, but 4 cores is fine in a pinch and I can work with a modest configuration for the actual wiki/file serving. Most of the time it won't be running heavy CPU.
How soon you are hoping this can be fulfilled: preferably the existing service would never have been shut down and it would still be available for me to reconfigure right now. However that time is passed, so if it's not something that can be enabled today I may have to set this up on a third-party personal server for the next few weeks until a (hopefully) permanent home on Cloud Services can be set back up.
Thanks!
