Description

Following the work in T338162 we need tagline/wordmarks for the following projects.

mrwikibooks
newikibooks
siwikibooks
skwikibooks
sqwikibooks
tawikibooks
thwikibooks
ttwikibooks
ukwikibooks
zhwikibooks

The following projects also need taglines:

bgwikibooks
elwikibooks

siwikibooks
thwikibooks
ttwikibooks
ukwikibooks
zhwikibooks

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1UIF8NhZi_W8euwZA_N8UPbs6kHmTL_2ocYUO4uxoyeY/edit#gid=411777716 may be useful context for how SVGs have been sourced.

TODO

  • Provide SVGs in a single folder within a zip file. Link to folder
  • Wordmarks should be stored in the format: <projectname>-wordmark-<language code>.svg
  • Taglines should be stored in the format: <projectname>-tagline-<language code>.svg
  • Work with the community to create the missing ones.

Sign off steps

  • After the logos are deployed developer will update the single source of truth
  • Create tasks for any follow up work

@JScherer-WMF @Sneha could the following approach be used for generating the remaining logos? If so I (and others) could take care of the remaining taglines and wordmarks provided we know the correct options to use.

Method for generation:

  1. Visit https://bg.wikibooks.org/wiki/%D0%9C%D0%B5%D0%B4%D0%B8%D1%8F%D0%A3%D0%B8%D0%BA%D0%B8:Sitetitle and extract text e.g. Уикикниги
  2. Copy text into https://danmarshall.github.io/google-font-to-svg-path/#google_vignette using Montserrat font (tweak variables as necessary - I'm not sure what to use here but perhaps you have a better idea - I was only able to find https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Brand/logo)
  3. Generate SVG
  4. Manually edit colors as needed.

@Jdlrobson I will speak with Carolyn and Sneha about this on Monday and figure out what the best course of action is. If it's just a matter of generating those SVGs I can probably just take it on and get it done Monday.

The above solution from @Jdlrobson should work for:

  • bg.wikibooks wordmark (Уикикниги)
  • ne.wikibooks wordmark (विकिपुस्तक)
  • si.wikibooks wordmark (විකිපොත්)

However the three missing taglines are not represented exactly (from what I can tell) on the page, so we might need someone to provide the string in order to create the SVG, I'm hoping we could do this via translate wiki?

@Jdlrobson, @JScherer-WMF https://he.wikibooks.org/?useskin=vector-2022 is incorrect. Project name should be: "ויקיספר" not "ויקיספרים". Tagline is correct.
