Background
This project is part of the Foundation Annual plan for FY 2023-2024 WE1.2 focused on decreasing the burden for Commons contributors with extended rights. Our hypothesis is aimed at improving Commons upload funnel: if we make improvements to the Commons upload wizard that minimize one of the most common problems that cause future deletion requests, that would decrease moderator burden.
Goal
The goal of this test is to ensure that the designs explored in T344957 are addressing the following goals of the project:
- Help uploaders to choose the correct release right option for their media uploads i.e. understanding what constitutes as own work and what as not own work.
- Help uploaders understand the licensing requirements in the media upload wizard and enable them to provide accurate information.
At least two iterations of the tests and more if we want to test the modified designs. The following tasks need to be done done for each iteration of the test.
Tasks for Test 1
Part 1 focuses on testing three versions of selecting between own work/not own work. Three different tests will be conducted for each variant i.e. a single users sees only 1 variant
- Create a test plan
- Create test script
- Create screens for first iteration of the test
- Set up tests on Userlytics
- Launch unmoderated usability tests on Userlytics
- Watch videos and summarize the results
Tasks for Test 2
Part 2 focuses on testing a modified version of selecting between own work/not own work based on the results of Test 1
- Iterate on designs based on the insights from test 1
- Iterate on test script
- Set up tests on Userlytics
- Launch unmoderated usability tests on Userlytics
- Watch videos and summarize the results
Tasks for Test 3
Part 3 focuses on the on the full test of release right step and not just choosing between the own work/not own work. Learnings from the previous two test will be applied to designs for this test.
- Create a design prototype for the test
- Get feedback on the prototype
- Create a test script
- Set up the test on Userlytics
- Launch unmoderated usability tests on Userlytics
- Watch video and summarize the results
Follow up quick iteration tests
- Share findings with the team
- Prepare summary of findings
