Hi @MMulaudzi-WMF Thank you so much for offering to mentor for this round of Outreachy internship!

I do have a few suggestions and questions regarding your proposal:

  • Can you provide a brief summary (2-3 lines) on the background of the project? This will greatly assist the intern in gaining a clearer understanding of the overall context and ensure a solid foundation for the project. To help here are a list of past projects: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Outreachy/Past_projects
  • Kindly confirm both you and @Flixtey would be mentors on the project. Our recommendation is to have a mentor team consisting of at least two members, with at least one mentor possessing a technical background.
  • The "microtasks" section appears somewhat unclear and would benefit from additional details regarding the specific tasks that need to be accomplished within the project.

Thank you once again for your support and commitment to the Outreachy program.

Thank you so much Onyinye for these helpful clarifying questions. I'm on
leave so have CC'd Felix Nartey to provide additional context.

For now, I can confirm that I will provide additional mentorship alongside
Felix.

Warm regards,

Masana

Thanks for confirming @MMulaudzi-WMF!

@fnartey As the deadline for submission is drawing near (Sept 29th), it would be extremely helpful if you could share the necessary context as soon as possible. To enable us to proceed smoothly and ensure that everything is on track.

Thank you!

Hi @fnartey

Gentle reminder about the feedback provided regarding the project. It would be greatly appreciated if you could address it, as the deadline for project submission on the Outreachy website is approaching rapidly, set for this Friday, September 29, 2023.

Thank you,

Hello,

Just a friendly reminder that the deadline for project submissions for this round of Outreachy is tomorrow, September 29th, 2023. Please make sure to complete your project proposal before the deadline.

Thank you,

Hey @MMulaudzi-WMF & @fnartey

Unfortunately, the project submission phase for this round has come to a close. However, another round will commence in February 2024. I will personally notify you when that opens.

Thank you,

Dear Maryann-Onyinye

I am so sorry that we missed this deadline last week. I will discuss with
Felix so that we're better prepared ahead of the February submission round.

Warm regards,

Masana

@Maryann-Onyinye: I'd either set the task status to declined per last two comments; or a project tag for Outreachy 28 should be created and this task be re-tagged.

Hi Andre,

We can set the tag to declined, if they chose to join the next outreachy
round it can then be retagged.

Hope this works?

Thank you,

@Maryann-Onyinye In that case please create a tag for the next round and move this open task. There should not be dangling tasks in soon-to-be archived projects. Things tend to get forgotten. Thanks!

Hi @MMulaudzi-WMF & @Flixtey @fnartey Wikimedia will apply as a mentoring organization for Google Summer of Code 2024 and Outreachy Round 28. Would you like to submit this project for any of these programs?

If Yes, kindly work on the feedback shared earlier (see below):

  • Can you provide a brief summary (2-3 lines) on the background of the project? This will greatly assist the intern in gaining a clearer understanding of the overall context and ensure a solid foundation for the project. To help here are a list of past projects: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Outreachy/Past_projects

    • The "microtasks" section appears somewhat unclear and would benefit from additional details regarding the specific tasks that need to be accomplished within the project.

If No, please let us know.

Thank you,

@Maryann-Onyinye Can you please assign at least one project to this task? It's currently sitting in the void of tasks with no attached projects.

MMulaudzi-WMF triaged this task as Low priority.

We are no longer pursuing this work stream and as such I have closed this ticket.

@MMulaudzi-WMF If no work was done then please use the Declined status - thanks!
