Unable to copy inline template from table cell to list item (produces ☢ symbol)

Description

Minimal test case:

  1. https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Sandbox&oldid=2112964&veaction=edit
  2. Double click into table cell with the "Fixme" template.
  3. Click on template to select it, then copy to clipboard.
  4. Click in the list item after "Something." and paste from clipboard.

Expected:

The "fixme" template.

Actual:

"☢" symbol.

Other:

This is in Firefox 117 (latest stable as of writing) on macOS.

There is no JavaScript error in the console.

I originally encountered this when editing https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki_at_WMF. The above is a minimal test case reduced from that page.

I can't reproduce this. I have tried in Chrome and in Firefox 117.0.1 (both on mac).

Reproduction note for anyone else trying which took me a second to notice: you'll need to be logged in on wikitech, otherwise you'll get VE in read-only mode. :D

Me neither now. I recorded it and all, but forgot to attach it and have since deleted it.

In confirming that this bug is gone, I instead found this other one: T347235: Copy template onto self throws "Cannot add a child to mwTransclusionBlock".
