What happens?:
The image the API pulls from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template:POTD_protected is from an older POTD. As of filing this bug, I get a result of 'File:Hyles gallii - Keila1.jpg'

What should have happened instead?:
It should return the name of the current POTD, e.g. today Platycypha Caligata

Other information (browser name/version, screenshots, etc.): browser: Windows Firefox 120.0.1 (64-bit)

I could replicate this until I purged[0] Template:POTD protected

[0] using forcelinkupdate, e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=purge&format=json&forcelinkupdate=1&titles=Template%3APOTD%20protected&formatversion=2
