As part of T342149, we've tested and validated all common operations. A k8s upgrade (not all that common?) has additional impacts that need to be validated to ensure that the system is robust and that we don't have data loss and that we know how to handle downtime properly. This can be done either as part of a real k8s upgrade, or ahead of time by simulating an upgrade.
