Background
Over the years the Android team has received several bug reports and feature requests to improve our widgets. This FY 2023-2024 the Wikimedia Foundation has committed to increasing internal referrals to articles. Widgets are an app specific means of having people engage with and exposed to Wikipedia (and related projects) on their mobile device. Due to the alignment of user needs and Foundation goals, we are prioritizing fixing existing widgets and the creation of new widgets.
