The first backup for enwiki media is from 2021, and back then it already failed to be downloaded from swift, so sadly, it is not on the media backups. Here is the log:

There are no other files, with any name or in any wiki with that sha1 or name in backups, I am afraid.

The object doesn't appear in the container listing either (so it's not a "ghost" as we have seen occasionally) (I checked with swift list wikipedia-en-local-public.27 --prefix 2/27/Ignatyevo.jpg). I note a briefly-added speedy deletion request in 2019 on the grounds of missing or corrupted image, so maybe it wasn't even present then...

So I think this object has been long-missing and there's not much fruitful to be done here given that. I think "Declined" is the best status match for this case.

But how did it go missing in the first place?

I don't know, and I suspect it is impossible to know, a number of years after the fact.

yeah, it can be anything, from hardware failure to network, to bugs in swift or mw, disk issues, etc. etc. We can't know without a time machine (for more recent stuff, we could take a look at logs but this is too old and we have backups for recent files so we don't even need to look)

A (lower quality) thumbnail has been found and the file has been overwritten, so this is resolved.
