Event Timeline

Hi @Network-charles, Thanks for your interest in participating in Season of Docs! Your proposal does a great job showing your experience and your proactive approach to the project. A few points of feedback:

  • Since the "No MediaWiki.org equivalent" section has significantly more pages than the other sections, I expect you'll need more time to complete it than the "Actually WMF-specific" pages.
  • You may want to break out the time for writing the final report into it's own phase.
  • Please add a link in the project statement title back to the original project description on the Season of Docs wiki page on MediaWiki.org.

Thanks for the clarification @apaskulin.

Can you kindly clarify what you mean here 'Please add a link in the project statement title back to the original project description on the Season of Docs wiki page on MediaWiki.org.'? I don't quite understand.

Thanks for making those updates! We'll be announcing the selected proposal on May 10 on the wiki page.

You're welcome! Looking forward to the announcement on May 10.

Hi @apaskulin, it's exciting to see that this project idea was selected. I also noticed an updated deadline for the project and I am fully committed to adjusting my timeline accordingly to meet the new deadline of October 26. Would you like me to update my project timeline?

Would you like me to update my project timeline?

That would be great. Thank you!

Hi @Network-charles, Can you update your statement of interest to include the number of hours per week that you're available to work on the project? Thanks!

Hi @Network-charles, Can you update your statement of interest to include the number of hours per week that you're available to work on the project? Thanks!

I’ve updated it to reflect my commitment of 40 hours per week.

I initially specified 30 hours per week due to the guidance provided by Google, but I realized that it was not enough so I adjusted it to 40 hours per week.

Good news! We’ve selected your proposal for this year’s season of docs project. Thanks for all the work you’ve already done, and I look forward to working with you this year! I’ll be sending you an email with next steps.

Aklapper renamed this task from Interested in Being a Technical Writer for the Migration of MediaWiki Documentation Project to Technical Writer for the Migration of MediaWiki Documentation Project.Fri, May 24, 8:21 PM

Status Update 2
I've successfully migrated these 8 pages below from MetaWiki to MediaWiki.

I'm wondering if T181380: Check Category:MediaWiki_handbook and move contents where they belong might de-facto get fixed by this GSoD work and should be merged into this task?

Hi @Aklapper, these pages, “Help:Content” and “ Help:Handbook guidelines“ outlined in the task are specified on the Meta pages section. So it’s out of scope and can’t be merged into this task. (See, GSOD Proposal)

But you can add the other pages that need to be moved to the list, I will work on it after completing this task.

I think most of the rest of that task is already covered here. My plan was to move the meta-pages and other stuff once the entire rest of the help namespace was dealt with, which won't be for a while.
