Content Translation is provided by default on Wikipedia for 241 languages, and the mobile experience with Section Translation is available in 249 languages. During this process, we connected with many communities to inform them but also as an opportunity to better understand how well the tools worked for them. in some cases, there were communities that were not interested on making the translation tools more prominent and we have respected their decision.
This ticket proposes to review the cases where communities have objected to the enablements, compile and analyze their feedback in order to identify which are the key blockers to enable the tools in different communities. For example, developing a given feature or fixing a certain bug could address the main concerns of communities X, W and Z.
Update
Here is a spreadsheet with feedback from communities who objected to the enablement of Content and Section translation tool and possible actions to take before approaching the community again. The Language and Product Localisation team will look into these feedback and adopt or propose other approaches to tackle the blockers mentioned in the spreadsheet.
