Background

Create a design prototype of an initial Wikifunctions use case in a Wikipedia wiki. This prepares us for building and testing our integration in Q2, once the performance feasibility is validated.
We will be able to validate the integration with our stakeholder teams and community, and build confidence in the viability and effectiveness of our potential engineering solution

Approach

• We will deliver a code-ready design spec based on user research, usability testing, and current technical constraints. This spec will explore a use case involving the convert template on a target wiki, that benefits from a Wikifunctions call embedded within MediaWiki content.
• We will create design explorations of the above use case, showing potential entry points into the experience. For example, we might show a control that appears in the visual editor, the content translation tool, and/or other major editing workflows.

Acceptance Criteria

• MediaWiki team has reviewed and confirmed feasibility of design prototype
• Results of the usability testing show that users find the design understandable and easy to use.
• Stakeholder review of design prototype (web, editing teams)

Success Metrics

• Minimal design re-work during the development phase

Stretch Goal

• We have explored and validated at least one entry point for the workflow on mobile view
