Paypal Giving Fund donations added to Civi under incorrect CID
Closed, ResolvedPublic4 Estimated Story Points

FRTech, we found that the Paypal Giving Fund proceeds for 25 April ($4494.44) in the attached screen shot, came in under a new CID 63719152, when it should have been applied to CID 27693813, which aggregates the Paypal Giving Fund proceeds. Can you advise if the change in logic is on our end or Paypal's so we can rectify this?

@EMartin they also have an organization record, cid 3729480. Would it be better to add some logic to make sure all donations with that email go to the org record? @Cstone figured out that the individual names on those other CIDs are CEOs of the Fund, so we probably want to avoid creating a new record when they get a new CEO.

Suggested tech fix: give IPN job runner a map of email address => contact_id for special cases like this one, and when the IPN's email is on the list have the runner blank the name fields and just assign the contact_id on the message it sends to the donations queue.

@Ejegg @Cstone Thanks for that information! I wonder why it was set up that way in the first place? Having the gifts go to the organization record makes more sense to me, but I would like to keep all of those gifts on one record. Maybe we can merge the two records once the new setup is in place so we have a complete gift history?

@MDemosWMF how urgent is this to address?

@AKanji-WMF I think if we can aim to have this resolved before the end of this month that would be ideal since we are training a new hire on a monthly process that involves these gifts. Thanks!

Noting that May's deposit is also showing on the other CID 63719152

Adding a note from major gifts: "I wholeheartedly endorse not linking these to an individual but to an Org record. I'd like us to record the CEO or COO or other names associated with the gifts as entities that are linked to the Org record via relationships/employment. That will help us with prospect strategy and stewardship."

OK, the logic is deployed to make sure they all are tagged with the main org record for PayPal Giving Fund (3729480). I started using the 'Move contribution' action from the ... menu on the contribution list, to move the existing donations. I moved all the ones from this year. Do we need all the previous ones moved too?

I don't see a need to do that, but want to check with MG - @RLewis Do you think there is a need to move all of the donations before this year from the Josh Tripp record to the Paypal Giving Fund record?

@DBautista-WMF Wanted to flag this change to you because I know that there was a relationship manager and some info on the prospect tab that you might want to move to this CID 3729480 from CID 27693813. I have also added the new CFO name to the organization contact details on the record.

XenoRyet set Final Story Points to 4.

@MDemosWMF and @Ejegg thanks for checking on this, I don't see a need to move historical gifts over. The records are linked by a relationship so we can always see the older donations on the previous CID.
