Description

The Android Wikipedia app (iOS untested/unreported) repeatedly shows outdated content on German Wikipedia, see discussion.

For both reported issues the outdated information came from Wikidata, once in form of a short description once as a fact in an infobox.

Steps to replicate the issue (include links if applicable):

What happens?:

  • Note that the infobox shows

Geburtstag 2. Juni 2004

What should have happened instead?:

namely

Geburtstag 6. Februar 2004

Other information (browser name/version, screenshots, etc.):
Browser does not seem to matter.

UPDATE: Works now after a null edit.

Yep, someone did a null edit which resolved the problem but destroyed the testcase. We had two reports in a relatively short period of time so it seems likely that we will find another instance shortly. Will update the report when that happens.

For illustration: I took screenshots of https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alice_Weidel on 25th of May (mobile version and iOS app) – the Wikidata short description vandalism was still visible on the app, even though it had been reverted within minutes more than 1 day ago https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q27975838&diff=next&oldid=2163186037&diffmode=source. The Wikipedia articles were displayed correctly on the app once the articles got purged (or edited).

Same issue happened again with https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amische via Android App according to https://de.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Administratoren/Anfragen&oldid=255710862#Amische
https://de.wikipedia.org/api/rest_v1/page/mobile-html/Amische also shows the vandalised short description even though it has been reverted five days ago https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q104444&diff=2343131648&oldid=2343066772&diffmode=source (and both the Wikipedia article as well as the Wikidata item have been purged in the meantime).
