User story & summary:
As the Growth team, I want to make sure wikis are aware of this new feature, so that we receive feedback on the feature.
As the Growth team, I want to arrange specific updates so we can A/B test the impact of the new module.
Project details:
https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Growth/Community_Updates
Test details:
- We will A/B test the Community Updates module, so the Community Update will be visible to 50% Homepage visitors on the language edition of Wikipedia where the update is configured (via Special:CommunityConfiguration)
- Community Update should be ready to post in October, and run for >3 weeks.
- The event/project/campaign should have a clear Call to Action after click through. (For example a "Register for event" or "Join WikiProject" or clear next steps that can be measured).
- WMF will set up instrumentation to track the following:
- Page views
- Community Updates impression rate
- Community Updates Click Through Rate
- Conversion after click through
- WMF will share experiment results.
Questions:
Should we specifically connect with wikis that use the legacy banner?
Where should we track which Community Updates will be part of this experiment? Should we use a sheet for tracking, or add details to a wikipage?
Acceptance Criteria:
- Review PM's communication ReadMe & Sign up form.
- Create a brief communication plan for Pilot Ambassadors
- Ensure we have at three or more Community Updates that move to “Confirmed and Committed” status
