@sjvipin we'll need to reach out to brill to renew our access

I have emailed Brill. I will share an update as soon as I hear from them.

It appears that access to Brill works. Paywalled works are accessible.

All Brill primary sources still come up as "locked" for me. Many of these used to be "unlocked." Similarly, if you go to the main publications list, and click "Subscribed content," it says no content is available. The only content listed as accessible is inherently-open (non-paywalled) content ("Free content" or "Open Access"). Which is the state is has been in now for several months.

(Unless I am missing something. I have confirmed this on multiple browsers.)

The access of books in Brill works for me, including downloading. Is there still problems for you?

As of now there seem to be some books available that are subscription-only, such as this one (as one random example) or this one (to give another). I am having trouble getting their (terrible) search engine to give me a real sense of what is and isn't available but it seems like some content is available under books.

Access to Brill reference works and primary sources is still locked. Access to many of these was part of the previous subscription. As the partnership text says: "This partnership gives you access to all e-books and journals, all major reference works, all primary source collections and text editions from Brill."

Just want to give another nudge here. The problem continues. In the field of classical scholarship, some major reference works are accessible (Supplementum Epigraphicum Graecum, Brill's Jacoby Online and Brill's New Jacoby) but others are not (Der Neue Pauly and Brill's New Pauly and supplements). The pattern seems to be that the resources in the new scholarlyeditions.brill.com domain are unlocked, but not those in the older referenceworks.brillonline.com domain. Look at this page, for example: https://referenceworks-brillonline-com.wikipedialibrary.idm.oclc.org/subjects . It shows access provided by Wikimedia, but nevertheless every single work in the list has a red locked icon.

Thanks for your comments. We are following up with Brill but we have not received an update yet.

Guys, hundreds of books and chapters are still accessible, shouldn't the "Temporarily unavailable" button be changed? I understand that part of the collection has a problem, but a large part can still be used.

Yep, that makes sense - I've changed it to a 'Service issue', which doesn't block the access button.

Has our contact at Brill been responsive? I don't know how much internal reorganisation was involved in De Gruyter's buyout, but if we're not hearing back it's possible the contact is no longer in a position to help or no longer with the company. Has anyone emailed our De Gruyter contact about this?

Brill was my number one most used subscription at TWL by a factor of about two.

Hi @Folly_Mox !

Yes, our contact at Brill is responsive. Our contact is back from vacation and they are looking into this issue. I will update here as soon as we receive a resolution.

Thanks!

Very curious if there are any updates on this — another month has passed by, access to the older resources is still impeded. This marks something like the 5 month point (I first noticed the outage around April, if I recall, after getting good use out of it in March).

It seems to be fixed. Can others confirm?

Still not fixed; I'm trying to access this collection and its showing "access is provided by Wikimedia" but there is no access.

I am no longer experiencing any problems with Brill content -- by which I mean the Brill content that I previously had access to, before the disruptions. There is other content on the Brill site that remains inaccessible, but as far as I know it has always been inaccessible, because it was not included in the the Wikipedia Library's subscription. See the next paragraph for an example.

@Mellangoose I have no problem accessing the printed version of the Codices Vossiani Latini (here for example is part 1, published in 1973; the other volumes are also available). But if you are trying to access the digital version, Codices Vossiani Latini Online (located here), that is a different matter. It's in the primary source collection on a separate part of the platform (primarysources.brillonline) and it requires an additional subscription. As far as I remember, the Wikipedia Library never had a subscription to it, and I don't recall ever being able to use any of the resources in that collection. So I'm not surprised that that is still the case now. Were you able to use it before the problems started?

I was able to use the Cold War Intelligence and Weapons of Mass Destruction collections via the Wikimedia subscription prior to the expiration. I used them extensively prior to the moment they suddenly got cut off, and the access has never been restored.

I had not had any issues with Brill access even though TWL was reporting a service issue, at least as of late October; I am now getting a 403 Forbidden error when I try to access.

I also am getting a 403 Forbidden error.

I was just granted access, and I was very excited to see Brill on this list and to try to use the Mediae Latinitatis Lexicon Minus Online. However, I am unable to access it through this account. has there been an update?

Thanks for your comments. We are following up with Brill for a resolution on this but we haven't heard back from them yet.

I'm a regular user of Allgemeines Künstlerlexikon but I'm no longer able to access it.

Hi @Gamaliel. Brill has extended our access for another year. Can you check and let me know if you're still facing any issues?

Thanks!

I am a Wikipedia Library user. Just now, I tried accessing the Cold War Intelligence resource that NuclearSecrets mentioned, and I cannot access it. (I can use the Wikipedia Library to get "full access" to other locked content, such as Kuwait 1975/76 - 2019.)

I can access brill.com but I can't find it there. Looks like it's only at degruyterbrill.com and I'm having the same problem as described here: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T372402#10755885

Any updates on this joint Brill/DeGruyter issue would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @spiros71. We have fixed the issues for both these collections. Are you still facing issues? If so, could you share details and screenshots please?

I am still unable to access the Niermeyer dictionary through Brill through Wikimedia.

Hi @Richlitt. If you're referring to Niermeyer's lexicon of mediaeval Latin, you may need to clink on the links for several editions to find one that's available. I just checked and I have no trouble accessing a full version of the 1993 edition. Try this link:
