Description

Inspired by...

  1. Perplexity AI's "Pages" feature [i][ii]
  2. @Pginer-WMF, @santhosh, and the broader Language Team demo for "composing" queries + sharing what you find
  3. Initiatives like Depths of Wikipedia, Did You Know, and that many others that explicitly invite people to share what they discover on Wikipedia

...this task involves the work of making it possible for people to:

ComponentDescription
1.Ask questions to/of Wikipedia
2.Receive information that exists within Wikipedia that is relevant to the question/idea they are seeking to understand...in a format that is compelling and convenient to engage with and comprehend
3Compose + Customize the information Wikipedia will have returned to you in 2. in ways that might make it more convenient for you and/or an audience to understand and engage with
4.Share the "artifact" you will have brought together in 3.
5.Learn if/how the "artifact" you made in 4. resonates with the people you were motivated to share this

Note: I think it'd also be important for the functionality this ticket is describing to still be useful in cases when the system cannot deliver – what it think is – information directly related to what you're seeking to understand/learn.

ii. Thank you to @RHo for demonstrating the feature's potential

Event Timeline

@NBaca-WMF @ovasileva what should this be tagged with? Seems like an epic/idea and not something that should live in our backlog?

The web team does not plan to work on this for the foreseeable future, but are open to adjusting that plan with new information.

Jdrewniak subscribed.

Removing web team roadmap tag from this ticket since the web team has been restructured and it's not on our roadmap. Seems like a cool idea, but @ppelberg & @ovasileva not sure if it has a home right now.

This open task needs a project tag, otherwise nobody will find it on a workboard.

Declining until a home (team and/or project tag) is found.
