[SPIKE] Compile list of all repos, docs and other published information about Metrics Platform
Closed, ResolvedPublic

Description

<Should link to either a User Story or Epic>
As a Product Manager, I need to locate all instances of Metrics Platform that will be affected by a name change so I can think about and prioritize how we will handle the rollout of the new name.

Description

Metrics Platform’s long term goal is to reduce the time to insights for product decision making. We are starting with shared experimentation capabilities and tools to capture user interaction data so we can decrease the amount of time and effort required to gather and analyze data in a way that also increases trust in that data.

Currently it takes teams 6-10+ weeks to run a simple A/B test. And even when they do, they often or at least sometimes do not trust the data they get from the experiments. Imagine a world in which the experimentation workflow wasn’t so risky and didn’t take so long.

One in which we drive innovation and improve Movement outcomes through effective experimentation, reliable on-demand analytics, and standardized tools and practices across all Product and Technology teams.

This work has been called a lot of things over the years:
Better Use of Data
Metrics Platform
Experimentation Platform
Metrics Platform’s experimentation capabilities
And probably more…

It’s confusing for people. They aren’t really sure what they can use it for. It’s generic and vague. Our culture around metrics and experimentation is emergent, so there is not a shared understanding of what these terms mean.

We need a naming system which will help people connect the dots and connect to the value of the capabilities we are iteratively building. The language should help us tell that story.

See Rename “Metrics Platform” and New name for a Product & Tech infrastructure project (currently “Metrics Platform”) for more details.
